A Pickleball Drill That Helps You Work On Speed Ups & Blocks — Dink, Dink Bang!

Looking for a 2 person pickleball drill that will help you improve & dial in your speed ups and blocks at the kitchen line?

Then you’ll love the drill— DINK, DINK, BANG!

The Set Up

So how you set it up is you’ll need 2 players, each across the net from each other on the same side of the kitchen. It’s primarily a kitchen line game so stand where you would normally stand when you’re dinking.

How It Works

One player is going to start the drill by dinking the ball to the other player. It’s going to go back and fourth for THREE DINKS. After the third dink, the player who receives the 4th shot of the rally is going to speed the ball up at the player across from them. The player that receives the speed up is going to block/reset the ball so that it lands in the opposite side of kitchen as to re-start a new rally of the “dink, dink, dink, bang!”

What To Work On

After you get the initial rhythm of how the drill works, now try to up the level. If you’re the speed up player, make it more difficult by choosing strategic spots of where to speed it up. Try aiming for the paddle holders shoulder or try to disguise what direction you’re hitting. If you’re the blocker, work on anticipating where the speed up is going by looking at the paddle angle of the person who’s initiated the speed up!
